Cold Lake Anthology Print Edition Seeks Submissions
The annual publication of select writing by active members of the Burlington Writers Workshop (BWW) in book form has been a tradition since 2013. In 2018, the original anthology known for five years as The Best of the Burlington Writers Workshop officially became the Cold Lake Anthology.

The intention was always to publish a print edition each year which features selected and recommended works written by our BWW participating members. Now under new leadership, the Cold Lake Anthology publication tradition is being revived.
The submission period for the 2020 edition is now open for works of fiction, non fiction, and poetry until January 31, 2021. Publication of the print edition of the Cold Lake Anthology 2020 will be in the Spring of 2021. Final selections will be made by co editors Nancy Volkers, Elaine Pentaleri, and a volunteer editorial staff.
You must have participated in at least one Burlington Writers workshop or class in 2020 to be eligible to submit work. There is no charge to submit.
- Creative nonfiction and fiction pieces should be no longer than 5,000 words in length.
- Writers should submit no more than one prose piece or 3-5 poems per issue.
- Work is read “blind,” without identifying information.
- Previously published work is not eligible.
- Word docs are the preferred format.
- Black and white only.
- No artwork or imagery.
- Editors will not be making content edits to poetry or prose.
There is no need to copyright work. The author retains all rights. The form reads: “If my work is accepted and published, I retain the copyright; Cold Lake Anthology is granted non-exclusive digital and print publishing rights to the work for the anthology, for future printings, for use in future BWW publications, and for publishing excerpts for promotional purposes.”
Featured writers will receive one complimentary copy of the anthology. Subsequent copies can be ordered in advance (or at any time there after) for $10. (This leaves a small profit margin for BWW.)
Thank you for your questions, and good luck with your submissions.
Elaine and Nancy
