350Vermont Issues a Call for New Zine Submissions

COVID-19 and Climate Justice Connections: A Zine hosted by 350Vermont will create an artistic dialogue on the connections between COVID-19 and climate justice aka, the climate crisis.

“We’re looking for writing and visual images that engage with the topic from a variety of perspectives. Our hope is to deepen the dialogue around this topic while making connections both between artists and between artists and readers/viewers.”

There’s a lot of great writing out there already on the relationship between COVID-19 and climate change.

This project isn’t about duplicating it — it’s about sharing what’s in people’s minds and hearts here in Vermont.

  • When? Deadline is June 1
  • What? Stories, essays, poems, drawings, photos, and other writing and visual art
  • Word Count: We prefer shorter writing, pieces 1200 words or less but we’re flexible.
  • Who? Anyone in Vermont who feels called to share thoughts and expressions on the topic, though we may not be able to take every piece we receive.
  • Where? Online! How? E-mail Lily: lily@350vt.org with the subject line Zine submission. For visual art, send a link or a file (JPG, PNG, etc.). For writing, send in Word, Open Office, or Google Docs format, or send the text in the body of an e-mail. Please do not send writing in .pages format or as a PDF. Please include your first and last name, the town where you live, a title for your piece (optional), and your age (optional).

Put some words down, do a sketch, snap a few photos, see what happens.

In many calls for submissions, editors ask to see your best work. Because our goal is a rich community dialogue and not a polished literary journal, we’re more interested in getting thoughts, images, and ideas circulating. For writers whose pieces are selected, we’ll provide copy editing and proof reading. We’re also offering an optional more extensive editing process with an experienced professional editor, giving you the opportunity to work on your piece and make improvements.

And send us your stuff!
